AUGUSTIN GEORG WALCH

We are incredibly saddened to announce the passing of Augustin Georg Walch on the 2nd of November, 2026. He peacefully left us from the comfort of his home in Weilheim an der Teck, Germany with his wife Christine by his side. Loving father, grandfather and greatgrandfather and life-long equestrian.

Augustin was born August 29th, 1940 in Munich, Germany. When he immigrated to Canada in 1980 he settled in Stratford, Ontario with his 5 children and W Charlot Farms was established. For over 4 decades he poured his life and love into breeding and producing horses and farming. In 1989, he discovered a 3-year old Rio Grande at the Verner auction in Germany, the stallion who truly cemented W Charlot Farms legacy as a top performance horse breeder.

Many incredible horses followed, the impact of his efforts and success are widespread and far reaching even to this day. He was exceptionally knowledgable about which horses to cross to produce outstanding athletes across the disciplines with great focus on the Hunters and Jumpers. Horses with wonderful dispositions cherished by professionals and amateurs alike across North America and Europe. He was hardworking and displayed a shear tenacity in his pursuit of success that was admirable and inspiring. He will forever be in our hearts.
